BERTHA DELL SMITH SHAW

Bertha Dell Smith Shaw, affectionately known as “Bert,” passed away on December 11, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 72. Born September 7, 1953, in Alexandria, Louisiana, she spent most of her adult life in Slidell, Louisiana.
She will be remembered for her intelligence, generosity, warm smile, and the joy she brought to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenza and Cleo Dell Smith, and brothers Garland and Lorenza Smith. She is survived by brothers Melvin Carrington and Don Winston, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and church family.
A memorial service will be held on January 17, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s or Dementia Societies in her honor.

Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Werner, III, age 63, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Orleans, LA, he graduated from Rummel High in 1981 and operated LJ’s Body Shop for many years.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and the solitude of being on the water, or at his camp in Demopolis, AL.

Pamela Ann Ford Bardin, age 59, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025.
Born in Little Rock, AR, she graduated from John Ehret High School in 1984, then earned an Education Degree from Holy Cross College. She retired from the Jefferson Parish school system in 2016 after working at Worley Middle School in Westwego, LA.
She was a committed Christian who volunteered at St. John of the Cross and Sacred Heart Catholic churches in Lacombe.
She also had a passion for art, music, bowling, volleyball, swimming, traveling and helping animals.
Willie H. Brice, Jr., age 81, of Lacombe, LA, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
He was a man of deep Christian faith who worked with the St. Tammany school system for 35 years as a teacher, assistant principal and then principal. He was previously in education in Nebraska, working with the University of Omaha and Creighton University, teaching American Government and Intro to Constitutional law.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, who earned numerous awards for his service while serving with the Redcatcher 199th Infantry Brigade. He was awards two Bronze Stars.
He was also active in numerous military and education-related organizations.
