SLIDELL — The Salmen Spartans had a tough time last week as the baseball team went 0-3.
Salmen lost 8-0 to Acadiana, 5-1 against White, and 3-2 to Covington.
“We played a really good game against Covington. but we were up 2-0 and gave up a run in fifth, sixth and seventh to lose 3-2. There were a few defensive mistakes from being inexperienced at positions,”?Salmen Head Coach Brian Babin said.
The loss to Acadiana was mostly because of errors, Babin said.
“We just need to fix little things on defense. They are very fixable problems like communication or knowing just where to be on the field. We’re going to be OK. They are all slumping right now as a team, so hopefully they will break out together too,”?Babin said.
The Spartans are 3-7-2 overall.
Dimitri Willis is still the team’s leading hitter. He leads the team in RBI, stolen bases and on-base percentage.
Jason Hursey has been throwing well. Tyler James is also doing well off the mound.
Salmen will take on Franklinton on the road today, and Lakeshore at home on the road.
