SLIDELL — Katrina Littlepage might be Slidell’s best kept secret. Although many know how talented a basketball player she is, it seems her small frame might have deterred some college coaches from snatching up the basketball player.
First-year Southwest Mississippi Community College coach Brent Harris said he’s watched Littlepage for years now, and was excited at the opportunity to get such a hard working player for their program.
On Tuesday, Slidell High’s Littlepage signed a full scholarship with the community college.
“Some people don’t know her beyond just the court. She’s a leader and a very hard worker. She has a great work ethic and she’s always in the gym,” Harris said. “She’s talented, personable and a natural leader.”
Littlepage also had an offer from Jones Community College, but decided to pick Southwest because of how passionate Harris was in getting the point guard.
“I was contacted by coach Harris a few weeks ago. He said he needed a leader and point guard. I have confidence in what I?can do there,” Littlepage said.
On her official visit to Southwest, Littlepage toured the campus and played pick-up with the team.
“There were some other girls besides just the team who were trying out. I felt like I fit in well with the team, and especially got to know one of the players,” Littlepage said.
The Slidell senior will get some playing time as a college freshman, and only time will tell if she will start.
