SLIDELL– In an effort to educate and involve community leaders in the fight against litter in Louisiana, Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) and twenty seven affiliates including Keep Slidell Beautiful participated in a statewide litter-a-thon which recently ended with a press conference in Baton Rouge announcing the results.
Nine bags and 3,800 cigarette butts were collected by more than 72 community leaders at the fourth annual “Leaders Against Litter” event, hosted by Keep Slidell Beautiful. Leaders Against Litter is a signature event created by KLB and supported by Volunteer Louisiana that gives local leaders the opportunity to demonstrate their support for keeping Louisiana beautiful by leading the charge against litter in our community.
Local government officials, business and community leaders, including Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, Slidell Mayor Freddy Drennan, Slidell Council Members Landon Cusimano, Glynn Pichon, Val Vanney and Bill Borchert; Parish Councilman Gene Bellisario; Assistant Police Chief Kevin Swann; St. Tammany Parish School Board Superintendent Trey Folse and many more, joined Keep Slidell Beautiful across the one mile route on Gause Blvd. between Robert Road and Rue Rochelle, collecting various forms of litter.
