John A. Landry, of Slidell, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
He was 58 years old.
He was the son of Margaret Roy (husband the late Charles Roy), and the late Arvin Joseph Landry; and brother of Mary Middleton, Claudia Miller, Yvette Buras and Paul Landry.
He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; and one great-niece.
Landry was a native of Abbeville, La., and a resident of Slidell for the past 10 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral.

Inez Elizabeth Gillie Heath passed away on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011.
She was 80 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Early and Claudia Gillie; wife of the late Darvin L. Heath.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Irvin Gillie.
She retired from McDonald’s Restaurant in Slidell.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Joyner and Terry Heath of Pearl River; one son, Darvin R. Heath of Pearl River; one step-son, Lee Heath of Anniston, Ala.; one brother Calvin Gilley; and three sisters, Mildred Sparhler, Janice Turner and Frances Leake.
She leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Theresa Marie Jones, of Slidell, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011.
She was 44 years old.
She is survived by her husband, John Jones; parents, June and Raymond Keppler Sr.; grandmother, Lillian Arnold; three children, Timothy Polk, Sherri Polk Smith and Daniel Polk; brother, Raymond Keppler Jr.; sister, Sherry Keppler Evans; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 5 from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home 67525 Hwy 41, Pearl River.

Wilfred “Willie”?Galatas, of Bayou Liberty, La., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011.
He was 73 years old.
He was the husband of Venora Maurer Galatas; father of Joseph Galatas, Troy Galatas, Darren Galatas and Jason Galatas; son of the late Joseph and Carmen Galatas; and brother of Valerie Penton, Emelie Pittman, and the late Norma Doyle and Benjamin Galatas.
He is also survived by five grandchildren.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Bayou Liberty.

Harriet H. Venus, of Slidell, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
She was 87 years old.
She was the wife of the late Vernard P. Venus for 54 years; mother of Paul Venus, Wayne Venus, Toni I. Glasgow, Leslie L. Venus and the late Linda Venus, Steven Venus and Guy Venus; and daughter of the late Dr. Joseph Heine and Irene A. Heine.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Venus was a native of New York and a resident of Slidell for the past 54 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Slidell and Jews for Jesus.
A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church of Slidell on Oct. 10.

Elva McArthur Sanchez, passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.
She was the wife of the late Harold J. Sanchez; mother of the late Ronald J. Sanchez; and sister of Mary M. Finn, the late John and James McArthur.
She was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Slidell where she worked for McDaniels Insurance Company. She was an avid bowler and belonged to USA Bowling League.
Funeral services were at Honaker Funeral Home on Oct. 10.
Ret. USMC Maj. Paul M. Young Jr., of Slidell, passed away on Sept. 28, 2011, after a battle with lung cancer.
He was 78 years old.
He was the son of the late Paul Young Sr. and Evelyn Young in Philadelphia, Pa. He attended school in Pennsylvania, Colorado and finally Louisiana where he graduated from Fortier High School in New Orleans.
During his time in the service, he did two tours of Vietnam and was stationed in other countries, one of which was Japan where he was in the company of the 4th Marine Air Wing. One of Young’s many out-of-country stationed ventures was Japan and the Phillippine’s where he fell in love with the country and culture. His career with the Marine’s expanded 34 years.
In 2010 he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Young is survived by his wife, Shirley; six children, Vicki, Lynn, Paul III, Highland, Mike and Chris; and 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Bay St. Louis, Ms., 912 So. Beach Blvd. at 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 22.

Lamar Crawford passed away due to complications following surgery on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011.
He was 69 years old.
Crawford was a retired pilot and the husband of Linda Coffey Crawford.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele Crawford Klemm of Spanish Fort, Ala. and their sons, Jeffrey and Samuel. He is also survived by his two stepsons, Hunter Brannon III and his sons, Jaxon and Tanner Brannon of Taunton, Massachusetts and Howard Brannon of Slidell.
He was the son of the late Margaret and Lamar Crawford, of Mobile, Ala. He is also survived by two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives of Gold Key Realtors, Freeport McMoran and NetJets are invited to attend services Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1615 Old Spanish Trail.
Another service and Inurnment will be held at Memorial Gardens, Mobile, Ala. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Cathy Mae Sepsis Foundation (cmjlfoundation.org).
Jonathan Charles Swenson, of Slidell, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011.
He was 21 years old.
He was the son of Ret. Slidell Police Chief of Detectives Sigmund (Ziggy) Swenson and Karon Ross Swenson; and brother of Thor Christopher Swenson.
He is survived by maternal grandfather, James H. Ross, of Kiln, Ms.; and girlfriend Melissa Castro.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Ray and Mary Louise Swenson; and maternal grandmother, Susan Clark Ross.
Swenson attended Slidell area schools and graduated from Slidell High School in 2009. He was currently enrolled at Delgado Community College majoring in Business Administration and was employed at Wal-Mart on Northshore Blvd.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), on Friday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Geraldine Hilda Farve Lagman, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011.
She was 79 years old.
She is survived by five children, Edgar Lagman, Sharon Adams, Eugene Lagman, Wayne Lagman and David Lagman; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Leroy, Fred, Gerald and Warren Farve; and her sister, Freida Lagman.
Lagman is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Edgar Lagman; her parents, Lem and Alberta Farve; brother, Hilton Farve; and sister, Carol Leindecker.
Visitation was held on Oct. 12 from the chapel of D. T. Williams Funeral Home 67525 Hwy 41 Pearl River, LA 70452, and on Thursday at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until service time.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 13, 2011 at 10 am from the chapel of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church 1050 Robert Boulevard, Slidell, LA 70458.
Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, LA.
