Robert M. “Bob” Echols, of Picayune, Ms., passed away at his home on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011.
He was 73 years old.
Echols was born in Meridian, Ms., a longtime resident of Slidell, and then retired in Picayune.
Echols made a name for himself as “Rockin Bob Robin” in radio as a top 40 DJ with WTIX during the late 50s and 60s. He later became a formative figure as a record producer and promoter in the music industry. He was a former member of the St. Tammany Parish School Board and worked in the insurance business.
He is preceded in death by his father, Berry Wade Echols; mother, Joyce Marie Echols; and brother, Elmer “Bud” Echols.
He is survived by his wife, Janice McIntyre Echols; and seven children, Robert Waide Echols, Todd Edward Echols, Robin Echols Hardy, Dean Gregory Echols, Nancy Echols Blanchard, Patrick Shelby Echols and Bradley Steven Echols; and sisters, Jenny Bankston and Dolores Todd. He had 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Nov. 13.

Mack Davis, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at his home.
He was 92 years old.
He was the husband of the late Rosetta Davis; father of Mack Davis Jr., Larry Davis, Michael Davis, Maxine Hayes, Rosemary Williams, Carrie Davis, Cynthia D. Roberts, and the late Jean Smith and Daniel Davis. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Davis was a retired longshoreman. He was a native of Vidalia, La., a resident of Jefferson Parish for 82 years.
Funeral services were held at CrossFire Church in Slidell on Nov. 11.

Marcella Dolores Bidema Buck, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at her home.
She was 80 years old.
Buck, a homemaker, settled in Slidell 31 years ago with her husband after his retirement from the U.S. Navy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Keith Buck; her parents; and two sisters, Susanne and Darlene.
She is survived by sisters, Eleanor and Patricia; brother, Don; daughter, Patricia Barber of San Antonio, Texas; and son, Steven Buck of Slidell. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Northside Baptist Church in Slidell on Nov. 11.
Donald Denton officiated the ceremony.

Dorothy Sadie Rawlins Cornelius, of Slidell, passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011.
She was 98 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Alfred Tasco Rawlins and Sadie Sophie Olsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Pascal Cornelius Sr.; sisters, Nina R. Wood and Barbara R. Hilgers; brothers, Leslie Rawlins, Olsen Rawlins and Alfred Rawlins; and great-granddaughter, Gabriella Rose Cook.
She is survived by her seven children, Connie C. Buchanan of Houston; William P. Cornelius Jr. of Mexia, Texas; Joyce C. Klais of Slidell; Marion C. Bertaut of Thibodaux, La.; Ellen C. Thomas of Slidell; Deborah C. Kimbrough of Pasadena, Texas; and Dorothy “Dotsy” C. Cook of Slidell.
She is survived by 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Cornelius was a life-long member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and an active member of First Christian Church, Slidell, for the past 44 years.
Funeral services were held at First Christian Church in Slidell on Nov. 12.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to First Christian Church for the Cornelius Community Center Building Fund.

Elden L. “Louie”?Nunez Jr., of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
He was 69 years old.
He was the husband of Lynn Willard Nunez; son of the late Elden L. Nunez Sr. and Cecilia Meyer Nunez; father of Tara Smith and Ryan Nunez; and brother of the late Harold C. Nunez.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
He was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Slidell. Nunez was known to many as “Coach Lou” at the Slidell Youth Soccer Club.
He was a graduate of Loyola University, New Orleans. He was a retired Sergeant of the New Orleans Police Department after 31 years of service. He was also a longtime member of Masonic Lodge #311 F & A.M. and Elks Lodge #2321.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.
Visitation on Thursday after 10 a.m. followed by Masonic Services at noon.

Cora Lee Wells, of Covington, La., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011.
She was 79 years old.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pearl River.
She is survived by sons, Elton and Robert Wells; daughter, Linda Darlene Neubert; brother, Paul Harper; sisters, Mary Schwarz, Dorothy Brister, Eula Morris and Rosalie Yates.
She is survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Doshia Gipson Wells; husband, Bobby L. Wells; and three brothers, Willie, Milton and John Harper.
A funeral service was held at First Baptist Church of Pearl RIver on Nov. 11.
Bro. Alvin Waller officiated.

Aline Rogillio, of Lacombe, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
She was 84 years old.
She was the wife of the late Jesse H. Rogillio; and mother of Eric Rogillio, and the late Reber Rogillio and Roy Rogillio.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A native of Wales, England, a resident of New Orleans beginning in 1947, Rogillio became a resident of Lacombe in 1967.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Memorial services will be held at the Village Lutheran Church, 29180 Hwy. 190, Lacombe, on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m.

Stephanie A. Shaffette, of Diamondhead, Ms., passed away on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
She was 53 years old.
She was the mother of Brandy M. Alfonso and Alfred C. Alfonso III and wife Kristina M. Alfonso; grandmother of Christian C. and Alexis M. Alfonso; companion of Anthony J. Bruno; daughter of the late James and Pauline Shaffette; and sister of James Shaffette Jr. and Ronald Shaffette.
She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Shaffette was a native of New Orleans a longtime and former resident of Slidell and currently a resident of Diamondhead.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m.
