Elise “Mickey” Melancon Abney, of Slidell, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.
She was a native of Paulina, La., a former resident of New Orleans for 46 years and a resident of Slidell for 25 years.
She was the wife of the late Melvin R. Abney Sr.; mother of James R. “Butch” Abney, Ronald J. Abney, Daniel P. “Danny” Abney, Carol A. Chambers, Margaret A. Schiro and Diane A. Salles; step-mother of Melvin R. Abney Jr.; daughter of the late Walter J. and Olympe Vicknair Melancon; and sister of Antoine Melancon, Delia M. Lambert, Julia M. White, the late O’Neal, Louis, Clarence, George, Numa, Lloyd, Floyd, Walter Melancon and Elia M. Lambert.
She was also the grandmother of 15; great-grandmother of 11; and great-great-grandmother of four.
She was retired from D.H. Holmes.
A funeral mass was held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on May 25.

Frank Joseph Allelo Sr., of Lacombe, passed away on Sunday May 20, 2012.
He was 63 years old.
Allelo is survived by his children, Frank Allelo Jr., Ashley Allelo and Jessica Allelo; brother, Joey Allelo; and grandchildren, Jake Allelo, Sophia Allelo and Ava McFerrin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart of Lacombe Church where Allelo was a member.

Jessie Clement Morrow, of Pearl River, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at his residence.
He was 76 years old.
Morrow was a retired Iron Worker with the Local Iron Workers Union #58 and a honorary member of the Pearl River VFW Post #1574, Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Moore Morrow; two children, Paul Douglas Morrow and his wife, Crystal; and Deborah Rene’ Cantrell and her husband, Lloyd J.; sister, Delores Wolfe; four grandchildren, Jessica, Lloyd Jr., William and Shawn; and three great-grandchildren, Chyanne, Bryan and Clayton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Cora Morrow; son, Anthony Wayne Morrow; grandson, Christopher; and three brothers, Wayne, Billy and Bobby.
A memorial service was held on May 28 at the Pearl River VFW, Post 5174, 64245 Hwy. 3081, Pearl River.

Joy Herrmann Gallois, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012.
She was 74 years old.
She was the wife of Ray T. Gallois; mother of Wendy Gallois Brister and Keith R. Gallois; daughter of the late John and Amelia Herrmann; and sister of the late John P. Herrmann Jr. and Dorothy Herrmann Champagne.
She was also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Gallois was a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Slidell since 1974.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on May 30.

Henry Alfred “Toot” Simmons Jr. passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012.
He was 55 years old.
He was the son of the late Henry Alfred Simmons Sr. and the late Ethel Clark Simmons. He is survived by three brothers, David and Terry Simmons and Carlos Ginn; seven nieces, Nina Simmons, Tamecia Carriere, Tyesha McDaniels, Rhonda Goff, Alana Robinson, Melissa Robinson and Cheryl Ziegler; and five nephews, David Simmons Jr., Bryan Simmons, Jeff Pichon, Travon Ginn and Joseph Robinson Jr.
Simmons volunteered with Mount Olive A.M.E. Feeding Program for many years and worked with Slidell Youth Football Association for several years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 2457 Second Street, on Saturday, June 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. The homegoing celebration will begin at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hambrick’s Family Mortuary of Gonzales, La. Interment at Slidell Memorial Cemetery on Daney Street.

John Albert Rowe, of Slidell, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012.
He was 63 years old.
He was the husband of Agabita Lelia Garcia Rowe; father of David Brian Rowe, Christopher Michael Rowe, Matthew Bradley Rowe, John Andrew Rowe, Natalie Carol Rowe and Rodney Bonsack; foster grandparents of Keion Boston; son of the late Carol Upton Rowe and Albert Hiram Rowe, Ret. Army Command Sargent Major; and brother of Benjamin Proctor Rowe, Nancy Rowe Cameron.
Rowe was a native of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. The youngest of three children, Rowe graduated from Southern Pines High School in North Carolina, where he was voted “Most Likely To Succeed.” He later graduated from East Carolina, where he played football (all state in freshman year), and obtained his Masters Degree from Central Michigan University.
Funeral services were held on May 30 at First Pentecostal Church of Slidell.
