Charles G. ‘Chuck’ Finch Sr., of Lacombe, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012. He was 85 years old. He was the husband for 47-and-a-half years of Nancy Finch; and father of Chuck Finch Jr. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. Finch has been a VFW member since the 1950s, a member of the Slidell VFW Post 8290, Slidell Moose Lodge, and American Legion #374. Finch was a Pile Driver Foreman with Pittman-Whitty-Lane Construction. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacombe on June 14. He was a truck driver and a member of the Maison Dixon Club. He is survived by his wife, Jane Campbell; children, Jason Campbell and Daphne Campbell; grandchildren Kira, Jacob, and one grandchild on the way; brothers, Gary, Rabbit, Buddy and David Campbell; and sister, Sharon McGehee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Betty Campbell. Memorial services were held on June 14 from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River. Juanita Mae Sbisa, born May 1, 1924, in New Orleans, La., passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012, in Slidell. She was the wife of the late Albert Crescioni Jr.; mother of Albert Bernard, Paul Kenneth Sr., Keith Rene Crescioni Sr., and Alita (Julie) Crescioni (LeBlanc); daughter of the late Bernard Vincent Sbisa Sr. and Magdalena Mary Oliphant; sister of the late Albert Edwin (Mike) Sbisa of Sacramento, Ca., Arthur Stanley, William Joseph (Jackie), Robert Kenneth Sbisa, Luryln S. White, Merial S. Romano and Inez Rita Sbisa; paternal grand-daughter of Antoine Joseph (Anthony) Sbisa and Ines Barcelo; and maternal grand-daughter of William D. Oliphant and Catherine Adolph. She is survived by seven grand-children and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. with a mass starting at 2 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell. Tressie Purvis Cox, a longtime resident of Slidell, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012. She was 91 years old. She was the wife of the late Thomas Martin Cox; mother of Carolyn Cox Pratt (Lawrence) and the late Thomas M. Cox Jr.; and sister of Mary Gray, Winnie Ishee, Rosalie Beckenbaugh, Patti Gomez, Hazel Chestnut, Edwin Purvis, Hascal Purvis, the late O.J. Purvis, Elsie Barnett, Bessie Purvis, Myrtle Moring and Marjorie Blackmon. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Todd, Jessica, Sarah and Christopher and three great-grandchildren. She retired from the St. Tammany Parish School System where she taught fourth grade at Abney Elementary for over 25 years. She was a founding member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. Derek McKenzie, of Pearl River, passed away on Wednesday June 13, 2012. He was 57 years old. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Brooks McKenzie; three children, Kelly McKenzie Harper, Ashley Brooke Byars and Darren Adams; five grandchildren; two brothers, David McKenzie and Daniel Pinterick; and sister, Patricia Astorga. McKenzie is preceded in death by his parents, Ravis McKenzie, Marcella Pinterick; and step-father, George Pinterick. Funeral services were held on June 18 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the DaVita Dialysis Center 106 Medical Center Drive, Slidell, LA 70461. Joseph Raia, of Slidell, passed on Friday, June 15, 2012, at his home. He was 61 years old. He was the husband of Kris G. Raia for the past 41 years; father of Joette Sison; brother of Mark Raia, Tina Wilson, Katrina Landry, Cynthia LeFeve and the late Luke Raia; and brother-in-law of Karen Grossenbacher, Carla Giglio and the late Peter Giglio. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Whitney N. Sison. Raia was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since 1986. He served his country in the US Marine Corps and was a self-employed Locksmith. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Walter Calongne, of Pearl River, passed away on Friday June 15, 2012. He was 69 years old. Calongne is survived by his children, Tony Calongne and Rhonda Moreau; brothers, Edward and Nicky Calongne; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. Calongne is preceded in death by his parents, May and Walter Calongne; and son, Christopher Calongne. A graveside service was held on Monday June 18 at Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at D.T. Williams Funeral Home 67525 Hwy 41 Pearl River.

Yvonne Avenel Walker, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was 74 years old. She was the wife of the late Jimmy O. Walker; mother of Donald J. Campo Jr., Deanie Campo-Landry, Dawnell Salway and the late Sedro Paul Campo; step-mother of Cheryl Munster, Mike Walker, Steve Walker, Diane Turner and Keith Walker; and sister of Albert Avenel, Loretta Merril, Brian Avenel, Laura Sinclair, Sherry Finger, Leanne Porche, Butch Alemany,and Debbie Alemany. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Walker was a native of New Orleans, a longtime resident of Delacroix Island and most recently a resident of Lacombe. Thomas Henry Mulholland, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012. He was the husband of the late Viola Standing Mulholland; father of Thomas S. Mulholland and the late Barbara Ann Mulholland; and brother of the late Edwin and Daniel Mulholland. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years as a Chief Radio Operator and served in WWII and Korea. He was also retired from United Fruit Company where he served as an Electronics Technician. Graveside services were held on June 18 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Blvd., West, Slidell. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he was a longtime parishoner. Honaker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

John J. Mulkey Jr. passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012. He was 69 years old. He was the husband of Kathleen Mohring Mulkey; father of Morris J. Daigle (Mulkey), Joann M. Thomas and Kathleen Mulkey; and grandfather of Dewey J. Nicholas and Justin Graham, Kaitlyn Gon-soulin, Alyssa and Savanah Thomas. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Mulkey was a member of Slidell Elks #2321. He was also a member of the United States Army National Guard. Services will be held at a later date. Clifford J. King, born Dec. 9, 1911, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012. He was 100 years old. He is survived by wife, Catherine C. King; sons, Clifford A. King and Louis E. King; step-children, Steve Sissac, Gene Sissac, Mary Boudreaux and the late Linda Arabie; brother, Leonard King; sister, Merline K. Rutt; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at St. Margaret Mary Church, Slidell, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22. In lieu of flowers, donate to St. Joseph Hospice.
