Earline Calkins Arender, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012.
She was 87 years old.
She was the wife of the late Barney C. Arender; mother of Jim Arender, Eric Arender and the late Barney Arender; daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Calkins; and sister of Lillian Hahn, and the late Gay Calkins, Earl Calkins, Glenn Calkins, Harold Calkins, Wilbert Calkins and Sylvia Maxwell.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Erica Murla, Peter Arender, Rachelle VanPelt and Brandon Houston; and seven great-grandchildren.
Arender was a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Slidell since 1963. She was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and was active with the Alzheimers Foundation.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on June 21.

Gail Mary Skaleski Duplantis, born March 14, 1960, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, after a long, hard battle with brain cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Mark Duplantis; son, Stephen Paul Duplantis; parents, Sylvester and Phyllis Skaleski; brother, David Skaleski; sister, Amy Skaleski Sweeney; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Victor and Mary Skaleski and Frank and Rose Ciolkosz.
A funeral mass was held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Pearl River, on June 23.
Lillian E. Tarver passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Tulane Medical Center.
She was 59 years old.
Tarver was a native of San Francisco, Calif. and a longtime resident of Slidell.
She was the daughter of David Gillette Sr. of California and the late Virginia Willis; mother of Heath J. Meteye, Misty Creamer Pittman and the late Patrick C. Meteye and Shelton J. Meteye; sister of David Gillette Jr., Mae Belle Ducote and the late Darla Gillette; and grandmother of Madison and Karlee Meteye and Lexi Pittman.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

Rita Ann Saladino Towler passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, in Slidell.
She was 76 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Dominick Saladino and Laura Galiano Saladino; wife of James “Jim” Towler for 48 years; mother of Keith Towler, Laura T. Gereighty and Lois T. Steele; grandmother of Jessica Ann Gereighty; great-grandmother of Cailey Ann Williams; sister of Philip Saladino, Dominick Saladino, the late Joseph Saladino, Rosalie S. Palmisano, Vincent Saladino, Mary Joyce S. Smallwood and Joann S. Stansbury; and sister-in-law of Lawrence Stansbury, George Smallwood and Perry Towler.
Towler was a resident of the Slidell area for 30 years and most recently Carriere, Ms. She was retired for a number of years, formerly a long time employee of South Central Bell and later self-employed as a caterer in Slidell, co-owner (along with her husband) of the Regency banquet and reception facility and Fancies Unlimited Catering in Slidell.
During 2003, she worked alongside her husband in the organization Save Our Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was a former member of The Sons of Italy, Slidell Lodge, and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Slidell.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on June 23.

Samuel K. Martin, a resident of Pearl River, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
He was 67 years old.
Martin was born in Gulfport, Ms. on April 26, 1945, to the late Ida Mae Ladnier Martin and Homer Martin. He has been a resident of Pearl River for 40 years and was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pearl River.
Martin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Martin; children, Michelle Walker and Melissa McQueen; and grandchildren, Derek and Colby McQueen and Brooke and Shelby Walker. He is also survived by siblings, Homer C. and Jerry D. Martin, Martha Mae Leuenberger and Virginia Rose Webb.
Funeral services were held on June 25 from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River.
Deacon Francis Drake and Bro. Allen Smith officiated.
Timothy Bryan Mitchell, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Ochsner Medical Center in Slidell.
He was 50 years old.
Mitchell was born August 10, 1961, in Texas City, Texas. He spent most of his life as an electrician and Hazardous Material Expert.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Elizabeth Mitchell; sons, Timothy Neal Mitchell, Anthony Ray Mitchell and Talon Lance Mitchell, all of Slidell; mother, Pauline Mitchell Myers; step-father, Charles Walden Myers of Santa Fe, Texas; brothers, William B. Mitchell IV (wife Joanne), Joseph Mitchell, Douglas Allen Mitchell (wife Angie); various aunts, uncles and cousins; mother-in-law, Edith Leras; sisters-in-law: Rose Harper, Angela Leras, Bonnie Leras; brothers-in-law, Karlis Leras, Kenneth Leras, Robert Leras, George B. Bellis; one of Tim’s closest nephews, Christopher Leras and many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Memorial services will be held at Honaker Funerla Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, on Saturday, June 30 at 12 p.m.

She was 95 years old.
She was the wife of the late Jarrett Holloway; mother of Coral Ann Beasley(Billy); sister of Marjorie Doran, Dolores Lopez and Leah Crow; grandmother of Deborah Theabult, Charlotte Willis and the late Patricia Fraser; and great-grandmother of William Fraser, Aaron Theabult, Daniel Theabult and Autumn Willis.
She was a native of St. Bernard Parish and a longtime resident of Slidell.

Laurie Curet Saucier passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at her home.
She was 74 years old.
She was a longtime member of ADK & Delta Kappa Gamma Teaching Sororities and an elementary teacher in the Pearl River area for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband, Al Saucier; three children, Al Saucier Jr., Dr. Rick Saucier and Cheryl Dean; brother, Charles Curet; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28 at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, from 6 to 9 p.m.
A funeral mass on Friday, June 29 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Dr., Pearl River, at 10 a.m. with visitation starting at 9 a.m.
Interment to follow at Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Pearl River, La.
