Herman J. “Jerry” Byrnes, of Slidell, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at his home due to a battle with cancer.
He was 80 years old.
He was the husband of Judy Courtney Byrnes for the past 49 years; father of Kathleen Williams, Maureen Hardegree, Eileen Parks and J. Courtney “Cort” Byrnes; son of the late Edward R. and Pauline Schrot Byrnes; and brother of Edward J. Byrnes, David J. Byrnes, Gilda Byrnes and the late James P. Byrnes.
He is also survived by five grandchildren.
Byrnes was a native of Barnesboro, Penn. and a resident of Slidell since 1976. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Byrnes was an original board member and co-chairman of the building committee for the East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity and was a volunteer for the Northshore Disaster Relief at Aldersgate UMC of Slidell.
A funeral mass was held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on July 21.
Donations to Notre Dame Hospice of Slidell, 113 Christian Lane, Slidell, LA 70458 is preferred, in lieu of flowers.

Diane Elizabeth Leidenheimer, of Lacombe, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.
She was 67 years old.
She is survived by her three children, William Paul Leidenheimer Jr., Cecile “Tootoo” Wolfe and Dawn McClary.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Batson; and sister-in-law, Judith Fisher.
Leidenheimer is preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Leidenheimer Sr.; son, Baby boy Leidenheimer; daughter, Wendy Kaupp; parents, Vernon and Cecile Fisher Sr.; and brothers Dale, Ronald, Glenn and Vernon Fisher Jr.
Funeral services were held from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, on July 21.

Tanya Caroline Knower, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012.
She was 27 years old.
Knower is survived by her fiance`, Richard Hartman; parents, Cort Knower, and Janice and Alex Teague; daughter, Brittney Renee Knower and Ashlynne Taylor Knower; brothers, Glenn Alexander Carter and Dyllan Lewis Teague; sisters, Alicia Rayne Teague, Erinn Hunter Teague and Alexis Nicole Teague; and grandparents, Carolyn Carter and George Teague.
Funeral services were held from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, on July 23.
In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to Regions Bank for the Tanya Knower Memorial Fund.

Maj. Julian G. Irwin Jr., of Slidell, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012.
He was 86 years old.
Irwin was a native of Atlanta, Ga., and a resident of Slidell since 1972. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Slidell.
Irwin was the husband of the late JoAnn McAfee Irwin; father of Mark Hope Irwin and Gregory Lee Irwin; father-in-law of Melissa Grush Irwin; grandfather of Jennifer Lynn Irwin and Misty Leigh Irwin; and brother-in-law of Frank and Imogene McAfee. He was also the uncle of Teresa McAfee, Karen McAfee and Keith McAfee.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Wednesday, July 25.
Rev. Jim Baham officiated.

Jack Andrew Bennett Jr. passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Ochsner Medical Center-Northshore, Slidell.
He was 55 years old.
He was a self-employed carpenter.
Bennett is survived by his wife, JoAnn Bennett; mother, Juanita Bennett; son, Jack Bennett III; daughter, Stephanie Bennett Brooks; and sisters, Peggy Fletcher, JoAnn Bice and Sylvia Slaughter.
He is also survived by six grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Jack Bennett Sr.; and a son, James Bennett.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, La.
Visitation on Thursday, July 26 at the funeral home from 6 to 10 p.m. and July 27 at 9 a.m. until service time.
Interment to follow at Crowe Cemetery, St. Tammany, La.

Sidney J. Rome, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012.
He was 80 years old.
He was the husband of Joan W. Rome; father of Sidney J. Rome Jr., Cheryl R. Bankston and Dana R. Brewer; son of the late Alcide and Anna Loupe Rome; brother of the late Henry Floyd Rome, Raymond J. Rome, Lawrence J. Rome, Adam Alcide Rome, Marie Oliver, and Hazel Rome; and step-brother of George Stiller and Herbert Stiller.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rome was a member of Slidell Lodge 311, F&AM, past High Priest of Pontchartrain Chap #68, RAM, Past Illustrious Master Slidell Council #48 RSM, Past Commander of C.A. Everitt Commandery #29, KT, and Lakeshore Chapter 59, OES.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on July 24.

Joseph Anthony Baggott, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012.
He was 76 years old.
He was the husband of Rebecca Sumrall Baggott; father of Dennis A. Baggott Sr.; brother of Gloria B. Roser; grandfather of

Joseph, Dennis A. Jr.; great-grandfather of Easton Baggott; and son of the late Joseph George and Frances Botti Baggott.
Baggott was a native of New Orleans, former resident of the Westbank and a current resident of Slidell. He was retired from the New Orleans Police Department and Freeport McMoRan, Inc. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was also a member of numerous service and fraternal organizations.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on July 25.

Winston J. Craddock passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012, at his residence.
He was 69 years old.
Winston was a retired heavy equipment operator and a United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Rivet Craddock; five children, Gerald Craddock, Charles Rivet, Keith Craddock, Jeanne Castay and Krystal Latour; and two sisters, Jacquelne Hagensick and Augie England.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and nephew, James Ray Craddock.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Earlene McKinney; brother, J.C. Craddock; and parents, Kelly and Lena Craddock.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of D. T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River. Visitation on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Neil Adkison, formerly of Slidell, passed into eternity July 24, 2012, at Tuomey Healthcare System.
He was the son of the late Fred Adkison and Ruth Early Adkison. He is survived by a son, Rodney Adkison; daughter, Toni Cockrell; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Pat Adkison and Louie Adkison.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Martha Thompson Adkison; a brother, Charles Adkison; and a sister, Peggy Rosland Adkison.
