Samuel P. Sorensen passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at his home.
He was 66 years old.
Sorensen was a retired elevator mechanic of 35 years and lived in Slidell for 37 years. He was born in Rochester, New York and graduated from Leavenworth Central High School in Wolcott, New York. He joined the U.S. Air Force at 18 and, except for a stint in Vietnam, was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Calif., where he met his wife and best friend of 45 years, Linda Lou Shoopman.
Sorensen is survived by his mother, Eva Daisy Sorensen.
He is the father of David, Rachel, Richard and Stacey Sorensen. He is the brother of Carolyn Russell of New York, Steve Sorensen of Texas and Jodi Smith of Washington. He is the grandfather of Travis, Sammy, Melissa, Stephen and Jeremy Sorensen.
He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel F. Sorensen.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home on Jan. 4.

Eve Haisch Waller, of Lacombe, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at her home surrounded by her children and family.
She was 81 years old.
She was the wife of the late John “Tommy” T. Waller Jr. for the past 56 years; mother of Jerry Waller, Perry Waller, Nancy Dempsey, David Waller, John Waller and Darren Waller; daughter of the late Herman H. Haisch and Irene Johnson Haisch; and sister of Teddy Haisch, Irene H. McGowen and the late Herman H. Haisch Jr., Raymond Haisch, Bobby Haisch, Sonny Haisch and Linda H. Cox.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Waller was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Lacombe since 1974.
Funeral services were held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Jan. 5.

Katherine Marie Phillips, of New Orleans, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011.
She was 28 years old.
Phillips is survived by her mother, Elaine Davi Nita; grandmother, Doris Sortino; and aunts and uncles, Cyndi “C.J.” DeSalvo, Sonta Davi, John Davi and Phillip “Lesly” Davi.
She is also survived by other aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service was held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Jan. 6.

Bonnie Jo Willis, of Pearl River, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012.
She was 86 years old.
Willis is survived by her eight children, Dana Payne, James Albert Willis, Linda K. Cyrus, Annette Barbato, Daniel A. Willis, Robert R. Willis, Joseph E. Willis and Sandra L. Willis. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 5 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home in Pearl River.
Pastor Curtis Gray officiated.

Claudette C. Marsh, of Slidell, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at her home in Slidell.
She was 72 years old.
She was the mother of Anthony Hemard of Manhattan, Kansas; Charles A. Krantz of Slidell; and the late Andrew C. Krantz.
She was the sister of Mary C. Nelton, Catherine C. King, the late Sarah C. Diekle, Rosie LaFargue, Alex Civello, Anthony Civello and Bernadine Catalano. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Marsh was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since 1982. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
A memorial mass was held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell on Jan. 4.

Joseph H. Clade Jr., of Slidell, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
He was 86 years old.
He was the husband of Dorothy Patrolia Clade for the past 66 years; father of Phyllis C. Merkle and Dottie C. Matherne; son of the late Joseph H. Clade and Ollie Wilbur Clade; and brother of Gerald Clade and the late Mildred Jeanfreau, Violet Wadleigh, Robert Clade and Faye Cook.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Allyson M. Parma, Erik A. Merkle, Brendan C. Merkle, Amanda M. Erwin, Yancy D. Matherne Jr. and Meghan A. Matherne; five great-grandchildren, Adam, Alex, Isabella, Gavin and Brodie.
Clade was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since 1997. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was a retired Supervisor for RTA in New Orleans.
A funeral mass was held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Jan. 9.

Jacob Anthony Holmberg, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his residence.
He was 24 years old.
Holmberg was a student at Delgado Community College in Slidell.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Frierson; brother, Andrew Holmberg; half brothers, Chad Carpenter and Steven Trusedale; sister, Molly Holmberg; and half-sisters, Tia Rangel and Tara Carpenter.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Bobbie Rose Frierson and Bob and Bernice Robasse.
He is preceded in death by the late Dennis Holmberg.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41 Pearl River, La.

Clifford James Houser Jr., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012.
Houser was born in Louisville, Ky. on May 29, 1938 and is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Anna Margaret Houser and his brother, John (Jack) Houser.
He is survived by his wife, Michen Milazo Houser; four sons, James Martin, John, Stuart and Rex; sister, Mary Hill Dewey; brother, Henry Greer and the joy of his life, his 10 grandchildren.
Houser was a dedicated physician in the Internal Medicine Group in east New Orleans until his retirement.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 66192 St. Mary Drive, Pearl River, La. 70452, on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at which time a Memorial Mass will be said.

Leslie “Dale” Brown, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012.
He was 78 years old.
He was the husband of Terry Hall Brown; father of Alan Dale Brown, Jacqueline Sue Allen and Cheryl Lynn Anderson; and step-father of Marian McGrath Ramsey and William Carl McGrath.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Etta Brown and his brother, Carl Lee Brown.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Brown was a native of Seminole, Okla. and a longtime resident of Slidell. He was a quality engineer with Martin Marietta and retired after more than 30 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Christ Episcopal Church, 1534 Seventh Street, Slidell, on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m.
Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell.
Donations to the American Lung Association and/or to Christ Episcopal Church, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
