Louise Anna Carollo passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Pearl River.
She was 102 years old.
She was the last surviving child of the 10 children born to Andrea Carollo and Antonina (Pellerito) Carollo.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Frankie, Russel (Cy), Charlie, Peter, and Victor Carollo; along with her sisters, Lucretzia Carollo, Mary Carollo Siemssen, Sister Mary Ann Carollo, OSB, and Salena Carollo Fontana.
In 1902, “Papa” Carollo arrived in Slidell from Sicily. He and “Mama” and their 10 children were among the first families to settle and develop what is now referred to as Olde Towne. As a child, she worked tirelessly alongside her siblings at “Carollo’s Grocery,” the store her father opened at the corner of Carey and Robert Street.
A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Slidell, on Feb. 15.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Margaret Mary Church for the St. Anthony Poorbox Ministry.

Francis J. Zuccarelli Jr., of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.
He was 71 years old.
He was the husband of Catherine Zuccarelli; father of John Zuccarelli (Darlene Broussard), and Maria Zuccarelli Barrera (Robert Burns); Pazie of granddaughters, Jordan Zuccarielli and Savannah Barrera; son of the late, Francis J. Zuccarelli Sr. and Mary Peters Zuccarelli; and brother of Carl Zuccarelli (Jeanette) and Raymond Zuccarelli (Debbie).
He was a lifetime member of Slidell Elks Lodge 2321, holding numerous offices throughout the years, including Exhaulted Ruler, District Deputy, and State President. He was also a member of the American Legion and a U.S. Navy veteran.
A funeral mass was held at St.?Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Slidell, on Feb. 13.

Vernon Earl Pitts, of Pearl River, passed away on Saturday. Feb. 8, 2014.
He was 76 years old.
He is survived by children, Terry Pitts (Lisa), Randy Pitts (Pam), Angela Michel (Todd), and Lucinda Furey (Eric); 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy Fontenot (Steve); and brother, Jimmy Pitts.
Pitts is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Pitts and Doris Walters; and grandson, Cody Taylor.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 13 from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River.

Nancy Ileen Hake, formerly of Springfield, Ill., passed away at her home in Slidell on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, after a long illness.
She was 71 years old.
She was born July 3, 1942, in Springfield, where she attended Lanphier High School. After graduation, she began working for the Illinois Department of Insurance where she remained until she moved to Slidell in 1989.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Wicks and Ileen Wicks Mattson; brother, Billy Wicks; and son, Mark Edmiston.
Surviving is husband, Richard Hake, Slidell; son, Todd Edmiston (Julie), Mandeville; sister, Kay Loveless, Springfield, Ill.; brother, Edward Wicks (Judy), Lakebay, WA; daughter-in-law Kim Edmiston, Sherman, TX; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Feb. 15 at Staab Funeral Home and Marty Morris officiated.

Virginia Walcutt Moray passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.
She was 83 years old.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pearl River and was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ladies Bible Class, the Jolly Elders, PTA and Lions Club.
Moray was the Pearl River Lions Citizen of the Year in 2004.
Moray was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George Malcolm Moray Jr.; son, George Moray III; and brother, William Walcutt.
She is survived by her children, Dixie Fogg, Dennis Moray, Tim Moray, Roxanne Moray and Rachel Curter, all of Pearl River.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Feb. 15 at the Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River.

Margaret Mathis Adair, passed away in Russellville, AR on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014.
She was 87 years old.
She was born in Diaz, AR, the daughter of Perry and Lennie (Young) Mathis.
She was the wife of the late Cleveland M. Adair; and the mother of one son, Robert Lester Adair Sr. of Russellville, AR.
She is survived by sisters, Betty Pollock of Arlington, TX and Peggy Brown of Ft. Worth, TX; daughter-in-law, Connie Adair; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Perry Jr., James, Walter (Pinto), and Sammy Mathis; and sisters, Elizabeth, Sue Goodwin, and Patsy James.
She and her husband settled down in Slidell in 1964, after he retired from the military.
A graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell, on Feb. 14.

Clarence Crawford passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.
He was 65 years old.
He is survived by brother, Calvin “C.C.” Crawford; and sister, Lois Yates.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ilos and Lorraine Crawford; brothers, Vinson Crawford, Jack Crawford, and Roy Crawford; sisters, Brenda Long and Estelle Crawford.
A graveside service was held at Charter Oak Cemetery, located in Pearl River, on Feb. 14.

Sue Rowland, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was 77 years old.
She was preceded in death by husband, Walter Harrison “Pete” Rowland.
She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Sherry Rowland and Diana Rowland; grandchildren, Myra Duffour, Winston Duffour, and Anna Hoffstadt; and many step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren.
She served as a regular volunteer with the Red Cross, was a first aid and CPR instructor, and taught hundreds of children to swim in her backyard pool. She went on to become an adjunct professor at Dillard and Xavier Universities, and later volunteered as an archivist at Newcomb.

Gerry Rein Daigle, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, in Slidell, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was 56 years old.
She was the wife of Bruce Allen Daigle.
She is survived by son, Brad Alan Daigle and his fiancé Donna Wood; grandmother of McKenzie Daigle and Austin Daigle; daughter of Geraldine “Betty” McGuire-Rein and the late William J. Rein Jr.; daughter-in-law of the late Louis Daigle Sr., and the late Iris Mae Daigle; sister of William J. Rein (Angela), Annette Rein Frey (Chris), and Michelle Rein Weinstein (Barry); and sister-in-law of Louis L.J. Daigle Jr., and Patricia “Tootsie” Daigle.

Master Chief John Francis Conneen passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014.
He was 79 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kathy Clark Conneen; children, James Conneen, David Neff, James Neff, Dolly Derry, Amy Neff May; and brother, Bill Conneen.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mildred Conneen; and brother, James Daniel Conneen.
A memorial service was held on Feb. 19 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River.

Thomas Clark Barringer, of Covington, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014,
He was 70 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Barringer; son, Jarrett “Jess” W. Ketchum; daughters, Donnina “Doni” Ketchum Hubert (John), and Karen Barringer Taylor; seven grandkids; nine greatgrandchildren; brothers, Allen, Calvin, Donald, Robert “Bobby,” Wayne, Dennis and Arlen Barringer; and sister, Rita Jenkins.
He was predeceased by his father, William Pierce Barringer; mother, Muriel Lucille Barringer; brothers, Harold, Jerome and Howard Barringer; and sister, Muriel Stappler.
He was a graduate of Slidell High School, attended LSU and retired from Southern Natural Gas and a sales representative for Pipeline Construction and Maintenance Co. (PCM).
The funeral service was held on Feb. 12 from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., Covington.

Ronald Farley passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, in Slidell.
He was 60 years old.
A native of New Orleans, he served in the U.S. Navy, and he was a member of Living The Word International.
Survivors include wife, Anita Farley of Slidell; sons, James Gibson, Ellery Gibson, and Harold Gibson; daughters, Shawntell Hulbert, Evelina Gibson, and Precious Gibson; mother, Ruby Farley; step-father, George Luther Cochran; brothers, Albert Heno, Larry Heno, Russell Farley Jr., and Romell Farley; sisters, Dianne Cureaux, Roslyn Farley, and Romella Hodges; 11 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by Russell Farley Sr.; and grandson, Devon Foley.
A funeral service was held on Feb. 15 at Living The Word International, Slidell.
Pastor Lawerence T. Weathersby Sr. officiated.

Earl Joseph “Jay” Lacoste, of Slidell, on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.
He was 88 years old.
He was a retired operating engineer and supervisor for B & G Crane Service. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elaine of Slidell; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Lonnie Wascom of Hammond, La., and Cynthia and John James of Baton Rouge; sisters, Edrel Pichon of Slidell, and Shirley Delaughter of Lacombe; three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Macy and Earl J. LaCoste Sr.; and brother, Barry LaCoste.
A funeral service was held on Feb. 15 at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell.

Dale Edward Langston passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.
He was 56 years old.
He was a little league coach at Kenilworth baseball league and worked as a ship inspector.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Heck Langston; son, Jason Blake Langston (Rachel); parents, J.B. and Ida Pearl Langston; brother, Michael Clarence Langston (Connie); and sister, Gail Lynn Langston (Owen McMullen).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m. at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, located at 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River.
Visitation will start at 11 a.m. until service time at noon.
