Francis J. “Frank” Hallal, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Slidell.
He was 82 years old.
Hallal was a native of New Orleans, longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and most recently a resident of Slidell.
Hallal was the husband of the late Joyce Dell Hallal; father of Kathy M. Hallal Boudoin and William J. Hallal; son of the late Joseph Hallal and Anita Moran Hallal Driggers; and brother of Mary Arnoult, Michael and the late Joseph, George, Jude, Tony, Theckla Phillips and Patsy.
He is survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Hallal was a retired Foreman of Kaiser Aluminum and also a former Deputy for the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was in the Merchant Marines and served his country with the Army during the Korean Conflict.
A memorial mass was held at St. Margaret Mary in Slidell on April 12.

Carolyn Medine Bush passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012, surrounded by family at her home in Pearl River.
She was 71 years old.
Bush was the daughter of the late Clay and Ruth Medine. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jimmy Dexter Bush Sr.
She is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Scott Catlett and Sandra and Morris Bullard; three sons and their wives, Chris and Laura Bush, Jimmy and Christine Bush, and Brian and Benita Bush; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bush was a retired masters swimmer, coaching and instructing generations of swimmers from her neighborhood, Magnolia Forest.
A funeral mass was held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pearl River on April 14.

Millicient Haydel Tardo passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012.
She was 79 years old.
Tardo was a wife of the late Samuel Anthony Tardo; daughter of the late Lucy Turner Haydel and Joseph V. Haydel; mother of Susan Tardo Rodriguez and Trace Tardo; and sister of Dorothy Guthans, Alsira Young, the late Doris Low and Justin Haydel.
She was also survived by four grandchildren.

Gale Lee Brooks, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday March 31, 2012.
He was 70 years old.
Brooks was a member of 1st United Pentecostal Church in Slidell, and a retired production worker for Bunny Bread Company.
He is survived by his wife, Lawanda Brooks; children, Robin Lee Brooks, Angela Brooks, Leigh Ann Marshall and Terry Brooks; six grandchildren; brother, Stafford Brooks Jr.; and sister, Gloria Patton.
Brooks is preceded in death by his parents, Stafford and Lorena Brooks; sister, Nora Sue Amacker; and brother-in-law, Frederick William Patton.
Funeral services were held on April 4 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home.

Shane Pichon passed away Friday, April 6, 2012.
He was 44 years old.
He is survived by his parents, Allen Pichon and Rachel Freeman; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Bobbie Comeaux and their son, Bobbie Jr.; daughter, Ashley Pichon; and grandmother, Irma Pichon.

Doug Crowe passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012.
He was 69 years old.
Crowe was a retired plumber.
He is survived by a his wife, Terry Crowe; children, Robert D., Ashley, Jon, Samantha, Sam, Debra, Janette, Brandon, Eric, Trace, Jason Crowe, Kristina Dutruch, Lisa Crawford, Jeremiah, Damian, Jared, Baily and Douglas Aleman; brothers, Alton “Tarzan” Jr., Rodger, Russell, Ricky, Donald, John and Damon Crowe; sister, Kathy Crowe Shirah; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Aleman; parents, Alton D. Crowe Sr. and Margaret Crowe; three brothers, Raymond, Robert “Red” and K. Patrick Crowe; two sisters, Dorothy Crowe Hover and Clara Joan Crowe Weaver.

Nancy Catherine Gotschall Guillemet, of Slidell, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
She was the daughter of the late Mildred Briskey Gotschall and Neil D. Gotschall,Sr.; and sister of the late Neil D. Gotschall Jr.
Guillemet was a native of Detroit, Mich., grew up in Grosse Pointe, Mich., then moved to New Orleans with her husband, Al Guillemet. She worked for the Times Picayune newspaper for 30 years and retired in Slidell.

Nunzio “Nuna” Giordano, of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was 90 years old.
He was the husband of Billie Jean Newbill Giordano for 57 years.
He was the father of Robert Wayne Giordano and Terri Giordano Ryan; son of the late Beneditto and Mary Giordano; and brother of Marie G. Arruebarrena, Rosalie G. Wolcott, Charles Giordano and the late Bennie Giordano, Samuel Giordano, Mary G. Buckley, Samuel Buzzetta, James Giordano and Mildred Giordano.
He is the grandfather of Christopher L. Ryan, Shannon M. Ryan, Cassie M. Giordano and Kevin P. Ryan. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Gavin J. Giordano Harvey, Brody R. McDonald and Lanna L. O’Rourke.
Nunzio was a native and a lifelong resident of Slidell. He was a former employee of Slidell Shipyard, Chrysler Corporation and the St. Tammany Parish School Board as a bus driver. He was also a lifelong shoe man. Over the years, he owned his own shoe repair shop and shoe store. The shoe business was his family’s trade. Nunzio served for two terms as a city councilman for Slidell from 1974-1982, serving on the Police committee under Mayors Webb Hart and Frank Cusimano. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club and the Slidell Jaycees and was currently a member of the Sons of Italy and belonged to First Baptist Church of Slidell.
Nunzio was a WWII Army veteran. While in the Army, he played the trumpet in the Army band that had the opportunity to play with Glenn Miller’s band, which was very popular during that time.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services, which will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West in Slidell. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m.

Mildred Landry Gauthreaux, of Lacombe, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
She was 90 years old.
She was the wife of the late Henry Gauthreaux; mother of Gerald ‘Jay’ Gauthreaux; sister of the late Jake, Alton, Woodrow, Albert, Ridley, Rucken, Newton Landry, Hilda Delaune, Nell Blanchard and Margaret Taullie.
She is also survived by two grandchildren, Beau and Dawn.

Ralph N. Killen, a longtime resident of Pensacola, Fla., and a resident of Slidell for the past seven years, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, in Slidell.
He was 85 years old.
He was the husband of the late Helen B. Killen; father of Teri Hedden, Donna Pryor and Deidra Adams; and son of the late David and Leva Killen.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Killen was a native of Vineland, New Jersey and grew up in Miami, Fla., before joining the U.S. Navy, which he retired from in 1972.

Margaret McNiff Overman, of Slidell, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at her residence.
She was 96 years old.
She was the wife of the late Ralph DeWitt Overman; mother of Sandy Crosby, Judy Pellerin, the late Hugh F., Max R. and Jon E. Overman; sister of the late Thomas McNiff, Richard McNiff and Robert McNiff.
She is survived by two grandchildren and one late grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.
Overman was a Registered Nurse and retired as Director of Nursing Services for the City of New Orleans. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary’s Altar Society, the K.C. Auxillary, the Red Hat Club, Pearl River Women’s Civic Club, a volunteer with Memorial Hospice, and a regular Pokeno Player.
Funeral services were held at St. Margaret Mary in Slidell on April 16.

Ruth Walker deVilleneuve, of Slidell, passed away in her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
She was 88 years old.
She was the wife of the late Fred D deVilleneuve. She is survived by her sons, Doug deVilleneuve and Jon deVilleneuve; and sister, Mary Lou Blanck. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church in Slidell on April 14.

Thana Celeste Schilleci, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
She was 62 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Hazel E. Singletary Schilleci and Edward C. Schilleci; sister of Pamela Schilleci Ricca and the late Jacqueline E. Schilleci and Donald C. Schilleci.
Schilleci was a native of Slidell and a resident of the Magnolia School in Jefferson, La. Schilleci, born with Down Syndrome, was an avid bowler at Colonial Lanes, Harahan, La. and a longtime baptized member at Williams Blvd. Baptist Church, Kenner, La. She was Queen of the Harahan Christmas Parade.

Henry Artus Jr., of Lacombe, passed away peacefully at Chateau de Notre Dame in New Orleans, La. on April 12, 2012.
He was 88 years old.
He is survived by Rosa Cerda Artus, his wife of 61 years; and his children, Aylie Artus Boitmann of Lacombe, John Artus of Ft. Worth, Texas and Gretchen Artu of New Orleans.
He is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Artus was predeceased by his parents, Henry Sr. and Gertrude Artus; and his brothers Wilbur, Kenneth and Clayton Artus.
During World War II, Artus entered active duty with the United States Army in February 1943 serving in the European Theater of Operations. He left active duty in March 1946 but remained in the Reserves. Henry attended Loyola University under the GI Bill receiving a degree in Accounting.
A memorial service will be held at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lacombe on April 18.

Jeffrey Alan DePaolo passed away on April 10, 2012.
He was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on August 21, 1965, to Robert C Enslin and Emma James Enslin (DePaolo).
He is survived by his father Robert Enslin, of Hyde Park, NY; step-father, Joseph T DePaolo, of DeRidder, La.; son, Jared Walker of Slidell; daughter, Amber Rose DePaolo and grandson David of Georgia; and sister, Cheryl Toro, of Saint Petersburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, step-brother Gregg T. DePaolo, and mother Emma James DePaolo.
In lieu of services, there is a memorial in his name at our family farm in Waymart, Pa. where DePaolo had many great memories.

Lucille Barton, of Pearl River, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
She was 77 years old.
Barton is survived by two sons, Dennis and Jeffery Fussell; three sisters, Olamae Oliver, Minnie Sorrells and Mary Louise Dallis; brothers, Vinson Toney and Brandon Woodard; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Barton is preceded in death by her husband, Chris Barton; parents, Jasper and Delia Toney; six children, Juanita Mooney, Norman, Dorman, Darryl, Tammy and Nora Fussell; and five siblings, Iona “Bootsie” Provost, Ruby Woodward, Oree Toney, Floyd Toney and Franklin Toney.
Funeral services were held on April 17 at D.T. Williams Funeral Home.

Tracy Leigh Stewart Sbisa, of Slidell, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012, at her home.
She was 41 years old.
She was the wife of Jamie Sbisa and is survived by her parents, Lee and Marty Stewart; two sisters, Deborah Carlson and Mary McGill; three nieces, Jessica Carlson, Reagan Carlson and Sarah McGill; and one nephew, Trey McGill.
Sbisa was a graduate of Northshore High School in Slidell, and got her master’s degree in education from the University of New Orleans. She was a teacher at Northshore High School from 1992 to 1998. She then went to work for the Ochsner Medical Center in the Human Resources Department rising to the position of Director, Human Resources, which she held until her death. She lived a fulfilling life, in spite of having Cystic Fibrosis.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell on Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m.

Wilma “Nanny” Schwarz Edmonson, of Slidell, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012, after fighting a long, hard battle with cancer.
She was 75 years old.
She was the wife for over 50 years to William “Bill” Ira Edmondson; mother of William “Bill” Edmondson and Brenda Fino; and sister of Roland Schwarz.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Edmonson was a native of Ludwigsburg, Germany and a longtime resident of Slidell.

Juanita “Kitty” Eccles Curnalia, of Pearl River, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012.
She was 58 years old.
Curnalia was the former owner of Po-Boys Grocery in Pearl River, La.
She is survived by daughter, Jennifer Desporte; mother, Ruby Eccles; and sister, Lynn Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denis Curnalia; and dad, Lloyd Eccles.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Hwy. 41, Pearl River, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
The committal service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, Ms., at 1 p.m.

Catherine Rita Lema passed away on February 20, 2012.
She was 90 years old.
Lema was preceded in death by her father, Frank W. Lema; her mother, Leoine Bourg Lema; and brother, Louis Lema.
Lema retired from the American Foreign Service on April 22, 1977. She served in many countries: Mexico, France, England, Thailand, Vietnam and others. After retiring, she made her home in Lacombe.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Lacombe, 27351 Hwy. 190, on Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m.
