SLIDELL – Northshore and Slidell roundballers split a pair of District 6-5A games last week with the Northshore girls taking a 47-35 win over the Lady Tigers and the Slidell boys taking a convincing 79-44 win over the Panther boys.
The girls played close throughout the contest with Slidell (9-15, 1-6) taking the first period 9-5 and Northshore (10-10, 2-6) the second 16-7 to go up 21-16 at the half.
The same applied in the second half as Slidell won the third and Northshore fourth.
The Lady Tigers were up 31-29 at the end of three but a big 17-point Panther fourth period ruined Slidell’s comeback try as Northshore captured a 47-35 win.
Ashlyn Falls led Slidell with 13 while Alyssa West and Allie Drouant added eight apiece. Raven Porter also contributed seven points.
Mallory Hancock paced Slidell with 11 points followed by Jordan Kaulzarich and Elizabeth Watts with nine points each.
The Tiger boys (17-5, 6-1) fell behind after one period 13-11 but picked up the pace in the second to take a 36-26 lead at the half.
They then used a big 43-point second half to dispatch the Panthers (14-12, 3-4) who scored only 18.
From there on it was all downhill for Northshore.
Moses Ngodock led the Panthers with 14 points followed by Dylan Ryan with eight and Spencer Aubin with six.
Kolbe Warren got the top scoring honors with 23 points with Travis Harrington right behind with 16.
Tylor Harris contributed 15 while Johnathan Merriman added 13.
